These images are really a shade small for best
clarity but note, on the right the original pattern
spring. It is a classic ''V'' and also has a small
projection which indexes in the rear of the recoil
shield.
The new type replacement is less a true ''V'' than
just curve formed, and the projection is not there
- instead, before heat treatment a ''dimple'' was
stamped in. This is barely enough to keep the spring
in place but some small fine-tuning to the lever
engagement end did finally succeed and once in place
and settled it seems to be able to stay put.
It is probably a fact, that to make the spring exactly
as the original, would be way too costly. |
