Handguns -- Single Shot

Just Two - Thompson Center Contender - same frame, different barrels

How to View Pictures
We hope you will enjoy this different picture presentation approach, which puts a set of category images all together on one page for selective viewing, and also reduces some download time. Use your browser as large as possible - at least 1024 x 768 if possible (full screen on most laptops) so images can expand fully in the window. Here is all you need to know ...

Place the mouse cursor over a thumbnail image below and left click to open a larger version. Depending on your connection speed there may be a small loading delay the first time you open any one picture. Most images are heavily compressed which does degrade quality somewhat.

Once open - you can click/hold on it to drag to another screen position or simply click to close. While open however, you may use your cursor arrow keys to browse through left or right in sequence through the page thumbnails.

The large picture may itself be saved by right clicking for "save image" or if a link is present in the caption then that may give options for another version or page.

This system should work in most usual browsers. You can still view discrete pages via the top dynamic pull down menu.

Contender .223
This frame, with its Pachmeyr furniture will accept a good many barrels. Here the .223 Rem which has to be a real favorite. When rested this can all but equal or outshoot a Ruger 77 MkII rifle at 100 yards! Only two other barrels at present - the 44 Magnum and a .45LC/.410.

The Redfield 'scope is good but shares the usual problem of extended eye relief 'scopes maintaining a solid sight picture if moving one's eye out of 'scope alignment. Recoil is modest and the trigger is predictably a dream.
Contender .44 Mag
This frame, with its Pachmeyr furniture will accept a good many barrels. Here the .44 Magnum which is amazingly accurate. It is used less than it might simply because the .223 usually wins the day! Only two other barrels have been obtained - the .223 Rem and a .45LC/.410 but sure could enjoy a few more!

The Leupold 'scope is excellent but shares the usual problem of extended eye relief 'scopes keeping a solid sight picture if deviating one's eye out of 'scope alignment. Recoil is modest and the trigger is silky smooth.
